Our Story

Pop Up Concepts is a Beirut store for fashion, footwear, art and design: a carefully chosen mix of brands we love, from established names to pieces you won’t easily find anywhere else in Lebanon.

It all started with our founder, Bassam Houssami. He studied business in Los Angeles, specialising in retail consultancy, then returned to Beirut to join his family’s business, where he spent years learning the trade from the inside. With that experience behind him, he wanted to build something of his own. The brands he loved couldn’t be found in Lebanon at the time, and so, in 2012, Pop Up Concepts was born.

True to its name, it began as a pop-up on Salim Boustros Street in Achrafieh. The welcome we received turned it into a permanent store, and over the years we’ve popped up at events and in new spaces across Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

Along the way, we were lucky to introduce many names to Lebanon for the first time, from Off-White, Palm Angels and Heron Preston to collectible art by KAWS, Takashi Murakami, Daniel Arsham and Edgar Plans. As the store grew, so did its place in the fashion world, and Bassam went on to consult for other retailers in the region.

That early success led us to open our first flagship store on Rue Pasteur. True to our roots, it never stood still: the space was always changing, and it became a home for events and for collaborations with local streetwear designers, helping the culture grow and building a community around it. Rue Pasteur was our home for seven years, and when the Beirut explosion hit, we rebuilt it.

In time, the store was ready to grow up. Flagship 2.0, on Arz Street in Saifi, takes everything to a new level of interior design. It’s a space made for discovering, for gathering, and for the occasional pop-up.

Our approach is the same as on day one: we carry brands we genuinely love and pieces made to last, from Casablanca, Amiri, Axel Arigato and Aurelien to books, objects and collectibles.
